The mark
The heron and the stone
The mark is Gardiner G31, the Egyptian heron. The Egyptians called it bnw, the Benu bird, from the verb wbn, to rise in brilliance. The Greeks met it later and called it the phoenix.
The band at the top carries one sentence in three scripts, the way the Rosetta Stone carries one decree in three. Each line moves on its own plane, in its own direction.

We are building the Library of Alexandria again. The heron rises from the ash. The hawk carries the word across the water. Nothing written is lost.
